N.B. This course may be used as an aid towards passing the new Health & Safety test.

It cannot be used as a Health & Safety pass certificate for application for a CITB - Demolition card

Who will benefit?

Demolition Operatives who wish to apply for or renew their Certificate of Competence in accordance with the National Federation of Demolition Contractors scheme.

Course Content

• Introduction, NFDC scheme requirements

• The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974

• Accident Prevention and control

• Personal protection

• BS 6187 -Code of Practice Demolition and HSE Guidance notes GS29/1-4

• Control of Asbestos and Lead

• Electricity on Site

• Control of noise

• Harmful substances (COSHH)

• Manual handling

• Fire- nature, control and prevention

Objectives

On completion of this programme, those attending will;

• Be familiar with their responsibilities under current Health & Safety Legislation appertaining to the Demolition industry.

• Be able to identify the major hazards associated with their work and take appropriate preventative and protective measures

• Understand procedures and systems for working safely
