PLANT OPERATORS SAFETY AWARENESS - CTA

N.B. This course may be used as an aid towards passing the new Health & Safety test.

It cannot be used as a Health & Safety pass certificate for application for a CITB - CTA card

Who will benefit?

Construction Plant Operators who need to meet the requirements of the Certification of Training Achievement (CTA) for Construction Plant Operators Scheme, (Plant Operators applying for or renewing their CTA cards)

Course content

• Introduction, CTA scheme requirements

• The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974

• Accident Prevention and control

• Personal protection

• Control of noise

• Harmful substances (COSHH)

• Manual handling

• Fire- nature, control and prevention

• Regulations relevant to occupation plus job specific related subjects

• Construction Regulations 1961 (those which are job related)

• Electricity on site

• Chains, slings & lifting gear

• Safety in open cast mines & quarries

• Safe use of rough terrain forklift/telescopic handlers

• Safe use of mobile elevating work platforms

• Earth moving

Objectives

On completion of this programme, those attending will;

• Demonstrate an understanding of the various acts outlined in the CSN 074 Plant Operator Safety Awareness Training notes and demonstrate an ability to use these notes as a source of reference.

CITB Grant currently available to registered levy paying companies of £35.00 per operative. - details of this may be obtained from your local CITB office.
